Attack Types - Unit Armor and Size Dependencies

Units in Rise of Legends inflict different types of damage to other units. The damage is based on the unit's attack type (out of a full set of 21 attack types) and is heavily determined by the opponent's armor and size. The following list provides all attack types and their specific effects.

Size dependent attacks

attack type vs small size vs medium size vs large size
skilled 100% damage 75% damage 50% damage
pounding 50% damage 75% damage 100% damage

Armor dependent attacks

attack type vs light armor vs medium armor vs heavy armor
accurate 100% damage 75% damage 50% damage
piercing 100% damage 90% damage 80% damage

Trample & Splash Attacks

  • Trample damage is treated equally to melee / range attacks. It might in fact have the same attack type modifiers. Usually trample damage is expressed in numbers (how much damage to each unit) and combined with attack types like stun or knockdown.
  • Splash is just deflected damage done by a normal melee / range / siege attack. It is expressed in radius, the strength in the center of the attack, the strength at the edges of the "splash" and a number indicating the speed at which the "splash shockwave" expands from the center to its edges.

attack types

Just trying to understand the percentage attacks.

So if a unit with 14 piercing attack attacks a heavy armoured unit this in effect reduces his attack to 80% of 14 or 11 attack?

Another example.....an upgraded desert walker with skilled attack (glass bolts?) attacking an Elder Salamader would be 8 attack @ 50% for a measly end result of 4 attack total?

Wow, if thats the case those units are a waste of time (attacking) in the later game, just pure cannon fodder...i can see where battle micro comes into it now.

Thx
